Olympus aims to create an algorithmic floating currency. OHM is the floating token of this system. At launch, $OHM was backed 1:1 by DAI, which is held by an algorithmic central bank. This protocol-owned central bank is the only entity capable of minting and burning $OHM. A portion of its reserves will be allocated to yield aggregators to generate revenue for the protocol. Another portion will be used to help stabilize $OHM against DAI through market buy and sell operations. Profits generated by the central bank will be distributed to $OHM holders and the DAO.
