MANTRA DAO (now rebranded as MANTRA) is a decentralized application (DApp) built on the Rio Chain, a blockchain infrastructure based on Parity Technologies’ Substrate framework and interoperable with the Polkadot blockchain network. MANTRA DAO launched the MANTRA Finance project to support the platform’s operations and empower holders of its native token, "$OM", with governance rights.
In August 2022, MANTRA DAO rebranded to MANTRA. Today, the MANTRA OMniverse consists of four main components: MANTRA DAO, MANTRA Nodes, MANTRA Chain, and MANTRA Finance.
MANTRA is a decentralized financial services ecosystem built on interoperable technology and governed by its user community.
The platform also incorporates the Karma Protocol, an internal reputation system that evaluates participant behavior within the ecosystem and tracks OM token holders’ activity. According to MANTRA, its savings and lending platform allows users to deposit digital assets, take out loans, and earn interest.
OM is the native utility token of the MANTRA ecosystem and serves the following functions:
MANTRA DAO was founded in 2020. One of its co-founders is John Patrick Mullin, a member of the MANTRA Council. Mullin is also the founder of ClubDAO and HelisWap, and currently serves as Co-CEO of Soma.Finance. The platform’s native token, OM, was launched in 2020. In March 2021, OM reached an all-time high price of $0.72.
OM is the native token of the MANTRA platform and is used for governance. OM holders can vote on proposals related to the platform’s operational metrics. According to MANTRA, users who contribute to the ecosystem are rewarded with OM tokens. Holding and staking OM enables users to submit proposals. OM can also be staked—holders lock their assets for a period and earn additional token rewards upon maturity. Additionally, OM holders can earn interest by lending their assets.
The DAO ecosystem provides a diverse suite of financial services including asset staking, lending, stablecoin issuance, derivatives, governance, fundraising, and asset custody. According to MANTRA, the platform is developing various lending products, such as cross-chain integrations with existing open-source DeFi lending protocols, high-yield savings portfolios, and stablecoin-backed loans—enabling collaboration across blockchains and protocols with industry leaders.
As of writing, the maximum supply of OM tokens is 888 million, with a circulating supply of 733,523,032 tokens.
