Internet Computer is an Internet platform for organizations and individuals to communicate with each other. In addition, organizations and individuals can use applications and software on Internet Computer, just as they do on centralized web platforms such as Google or Yahoo, but the fundamental difference is that Internet Computer is decentralized.
Developers can easily create and deploy software on the Internet Computer blockchain network, thereby expanding the network and the applications that run on it. Internet Computer's high speed, large data capacity, high security and strong independence make it a competitor to centralized web platforms.
ICP is the native cryptocurrency that powers Internet Computer. It is also a governance token used for staking, and can also ensure delegated decision-making while leveraging the power of network-related nodes. Decentralized Finance (DeFi) applications can also run on this scalable Internet Computer platform.
Internet Computer is different from many other blockchains in that it does not run on a cloud system, but on its own independently built hardware network, independently managed by individuals, which improves security while maintaining true decentralization.
ICP/BTC Integrated Test API
On August 4, 2022, DFINITY announced the release of a beta version of ICP's Bitcoin testnet application programming interface (API), which can interact directly with the Bitcoin network, eliminating the need for middlemen or bridges. With the integrated API, developers can start developing and testing immediately.
ORIGYN NFT Platform
The ORIGYN Foundation is a Swiss company that specializes in identifying, authenticating, and unlocking the potential of NFTs in luxury goods, fine art, media, and collectibles. It is one of the first companies to start building on the Internet Computer Protocol. Ahead of the upcoming launch of Impossible Things, ORIGYN has issued a native utility token, OGY, an ORIGYN-powered marketplace for trading NFTs that supports verified assets, marking a major development in the ICP ecosystem.
Price of Cryptocurrency ICP and Its Economic Model
According to Coinmarketcap, Internet Computer has a market cap of $2 billion and a circulating supply of 253.7 million tokens, ranking it around the 30th largest cryptocurrency in the world by market cap. The total supply of ICP is approximately 488 million copies, giving it a fully diluted market cap of nearly $4 billion. ICP tokens are created and used as rewards for participants who vote on proposals and manage storage nodes.
The Internet Computer protocol also utilizes another token called "Circle," which is converted from the cryptocurrency ICP and is used to support computing power.
The Internet Computer protocol has conducted several rounds of financing over the course of several years to build initial early support for the project. According to Messari, the first round of financing was completed in February 2017, successfully raising more than $4 million for the subsequent development of the network. Subsequent token sales in February and August 2018 raised more than $117 million.
Early investors were able to purchase ICP tokens at $0.035 each in the funding round. Speculators believe this is the reason for the strong selling pressure visible in the ICP token price action and the drop in the Internet Computer Protocol price when the token was publicly traded at $365 per ICP.
The initial distribution of ICP tokens was allocated almost entirely to the Internet Computer Protocol team and early investors. ICP tokens are distributed as follows:
-Angel round: 24.72%
-DFINITY Foundation: 23.86%
-Internet Computer Protocol team members: 18.00%
-Early contributors: 9.50%
-Strategic partners: 7.00%
-Pre-sale buyers: 4.96%

The core idea behind the Internet Computer network is to create a unique, decentralized Internet and a global cloud computing system powered by interconnected, independent data centers to compete with centralized cloud providers such as Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud, and Microsoft Azure.
Many people believe that there is a problem with the current Internet because it is centralized and popular applications are close-sourced and keep the technology private. Since most of the Internet's storage needs are provided by a few large centralized providers, if a major data center goes down, many businesses and users may not be able to use these services. Another major disadvantage of centralized cloud storage is that centralized providers have the power to censor or shut down the applications they host at will.
The Internet Computer protocol wants to change all that. The Internet Computer network seeks to create an alternative version of the Internet that allows developers to use decentralized services to host their applications without worrying about censorship, deplatforming, or loss of user data. This is to further encourage open source and transparent software development around the world.
Any interested individual or data center that has the necessary storage capacity and wants to join the network as a storage node operator is free to join. They pay for the storage space provided and are further rewarded with symbolic tokens.
Blockchain Key Technology
One of the most fundamental new implementations in the Internet Computer Protocol chain is the re-imagination of chain key technology. The Internet Computer Protocol network utilizes a single public key, which allows the chain to quickly deploy millions of nodes. With its unique chain key technology, any device, such as a mobile phone or tablet, can confirm the authenticity of events on the chain.
Anti-GAS Fee Model
While most blockchains require users to pay gas fees to complete transactions, the Internet Computer Protocol adopts a novel anti-gas fee model. Developers pay to use this mechanism to run decentralized applications (DApps) on the Internet Computer Protocol. As a result, non-technical people can interact with blockchain technology without the need for specific cryptocurrencies. This makes the technology more accessible and lowers the barrier to entry for users.
Motoko Smart Contract LanguageDFINITY has developed a new programming language, Motoko, for smart contracts. It makes it simpler to use the unique features of blockchains and can easily adapt the ideas of the Internet Computer Protocol to implement a fully decentralized blockchain protocol. Automatic memory management, generics, type inference, pattern matching, and arbitrary and fixed precision arithmetic are examples of Motoko's productivity and security features.
It has a variety of unique features that set it apart from other popular blockchains. For example, the Internet Computer Protocol is the only network other than Bitcoin that is operated by zero centralized cloud computing nodes. In contrast, about 70% of Ethereum nodes and 50% of Solana nodes are actually hosted by cloud servers provided by centralized institutions such as Amazon Web Services and Google Cloud Service.
The Internet Computer Protocol is designed to provide a more convenient use experience for the public. As a result, it is the only public blockchain in which smart contracts are run and HTTP calls are made directly to browsers. In other words, inexperienced users will be interacting with Web3 technologies and blockchain features without knowing it.
The Internet Computer protocol network is built and developed by the DFINITY Foundation, a non-profit research foundation focused on scientific pursuits. The DFINITY Foundation was originally created by Dominic Williams, who served in the role of founder and chief scientist. Williams is a recognized and renowned cryptographic theorist for inventing innovative cryptographic concepts such as threshold relays and probabilistic slot consensus.
Prior to founding the DFINITY Foundation and launching the Internet Computer protocol, Williams was the President and CTO of String Labs, a platform for new cryptographic startups. He also developed successful online games for children that supported millions of users.
The DFINITY Foundation is based in Zurich, Switzerland. It is comprised of world leaders in cryptography, programming, and distributed systems. In addition to Williams, the DFINITY Foundation benefits from the expertise of some of the industry’s most renowned technologists, including:
-Jan Camenisch: Cryptographer and privacy researcher who led IBM’s cryptography and research division for 19 years.

Internet Computer Protocol has raised nearly $167 million in funding from 15 investors, including Andreessen Horowitz, 9Yards Capital, Polychain, Aspect Ventures, and Village Global.
DFINITY has raised three rounds of funding. Their most recent investment came from a venture capital round on August 28, 2018, which raised $102 million. In addition, DFINITY invested $25,000 in SPEEQO, a voice machine learning software company, on January 20, 2022.
Internet Computer was created by the Swiss-based DFINITY Foundation. Internet Computer is also backed by renowned venture capital firms Andreessen Horowitz and Polychain Capital.
ICP stands for Internet Computer Protocol and is the native cryptocurrency of the Internet Computer decentralized ecosystem and network platform.
The Internet Computer Protocol is one of the fastest public blockchains in the world, processing 11,500 transactions per second and completing transactions in 1 second due to its innovative chain key cryptography.
Internet Computer Protocol (ICP) is an inflationary token with an uncapped supply. Its inflation rate is set at 10% in the first year and decreases year by year thereafter, eventually reaching a preset minimum level of 5%. The price of ICP changes based on supply and demand and other preset measures within the Internet Computer ecosystem.
At the time of writing, the total supply of ICP tokens is 477.6 million, with an effective circulating supply of 207.6 million. More than 43 million ICP tokens are staked in the ICP network in the form of neuron mechanisms. Of these, 77% of ICP tokens have been staked for more than a year, indicating that ICP token holders are optimistic about the prospects for the development of the Internet Computer decentralized community.
Transactions on the Internet Computer network are said to be completed at "network speeds," taking less time than many other independent networks. Internet Computer stands out from other blockchains because of its faster transaction speeds and the fact that it runs on an independent, secure network rather than the cloud systems used by most other blockchain networks.
The Internet Computer protocol is supported by 48 data centers located in North America, Europe, and Asia, and it runs 1,300 nodes. By the end of 2022, the network will have 123 data centers, each with 4,300 nodes. Node operators can be anyone.
Internet Computer is a decentralized web platform. It was created and developed to ultimately compete with centralized web platform giants such as Google and Yahoo. The Internet Computer decentralized network allows developers to create fully functional decentralized web applications and software that are comparable in quality and functionality to large technology companies.
This peer-to-peer (C2C) functionality and openness to attract broad public participation increase Internet Computer's potential to compete with large centralized web platforms.
Internet Computer is different in that it can continuously attract all kinds of software to its decentralized web platform. Thanks to this, Internet Computer has an ever-expanding network model that has a clear competitive advantage over the bandwidth coupling provided by its peers. Another major advantage of the Internet Computer network over other blockchain networks is its faster transaction speed.
