Does Dogecoin have developers?

Dogecoin has always had developers!

Dogecoin has always been designed to be a currency. Billy Markus and Jackson Palmer created Dogecoin together, and Billy Markus developed the first version of Dogecoin alone. In 2014, Billy and Jackson left the development of Dogecoin, and a new development team was formed. Over the years, the Dogecoin development team has consisted of more than 40 collaborative contributors.

Starting with Dogecoin 1.10.0 in 2015, the Dogecoin development team decided to re-fork Dogecoin from Bitcoin and re-implement some of the changes of Litecoin on top of Bitcoin's codebase. Therefore, historically, Dogecoin inherited Bitcoin's fully functional codebase and shared many of Bitcoin's good properties. Some of its uniqueness mainly comes from parameter changes, feature optimizations, and some code that is not inherited from Litecoin and Bitcoin. These changes are all aimed at making Dogecoin a usable currency that is convenient for daily use, focusing on practicality and ease of use.

In the future, we plan to invest more energy and resources to support Dogecoin to achieve its goal of "all for the people". This requires the efforts of part-time contributors and volunteers, as well as full-time developers and engineers.

The Dogecoin Foundation roadmap lists some projects through which the Dogecoin ecological community will move towards the goal of Dogecoin, all for the people, and everything depends on the people! This roadmap is not mandatory, but for the community to discuss publicly and adjust the direction of progress based on community feedback.
