Only a small fraction of all bitcoins issued to date are sold on the exchange. The bitcoin market is highly competitive, meaning that the price of a bitcoin will fluctuate based on supply and demand. In addition, new bitcoins will continue to be issued over the next few decades, so even the most determined buyers will not be able to buy up all the existing bitcoins. But this does not mean that the market is immune to price manipulation. It does not take a very large amount of money to make the market price of bitcoin move up or down, so bitcoin is still a volatile asset to date.
